No. You can access psychological services privately without a referral.
If you wish to claim a Medicare rebate for eligible therapy sessions, you will need a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.
A referral is generally not required for privately funded psychological assessments.

Individual therapy sessions are $240, with an after-hours fee of $260 for appointments commencing after 5:00 pm.
Assessment fees vary depending on the type of assessment, the tools required and the complexity of the referral question. A clear assessment plan and total cost will be provided before you decide to proceed.
Payment is required at the time of your appointment.

Eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral may claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year.
Medicare covers part of the session fee, so an out-of-pocket cost will apply. Comprehensive psychological assessments are generally not covered by Medicare.
Please speak with your referring practitioner to determine your eligibility.

Yes. North & Rise welcomes self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants where psychology is appropriate to the participant’s needs, goals and available funding.
North & Rise is not a registered NDIS provider and cannot accept NDIA-managed funding.

Yes. Telehealth appointments may be available depending on the service, client’s age and individual circumstances.
Some psychological assessments or components of an assessment may require face-to-face attendance.

North & Rise supports clients across the lifespan, from young children and adolescents to adults and older adults.
We have a particular interest in supporting children, adolescents, neurodivergent individuals and their families.

The first appointment is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, relevant background, current needs and goals for support.
We will explain confidentiality, answer your questions and work with you to develop an appropriate plan for therapy, assessment or further support.

Parent involvement depends on the child’s age, needs and treatment goals.
For younger children, parents or caregivers are often involved in the initial appointment and may participate in parts of future sessions. For older children and adolescents, the level of involvement is discussed collaboratively while respecting the young person’s privacy and safety.
Parent-only consultations may also be recommended when appropriate.

Yes. North & Rise offers small group programs for children and adolescents focused on social confidence, communication, emotional regulation, flexible thinking and friendship skills.
Groups are offered periodically according to participant age, needs and availability. Families can contact us to register their interest in upcoming programs.

Yes. With appropriate consent, we can collaborate with schools, kindergartens, medical professionals and allied health providers.
This may include school observations, consultations, care-team meetings, information gathering and the development of practical strategies. Additional fees may apply for consultation, observation, travel and report preparation.

We require at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Late cancellations and missed appointments may incur the full session fee, as the appointment time has been reserved specifically for you. Medicare rebates are not available for unattended appointments.

No. North & Rise is not an emergency or crisis service and may not be able to respond immediately to urgent enquiries.
